String Fling
String Fling is a participatory temporary installation using string as a medium, installed for The Foundry Equation @ The Foundry. Beginning with Space Bomb-esk central nodes from which different color string emanates, the public is then allowed and encouraged to participate and contribute as they see fit. This open forum of additional string interventions dissolves the original structure and creates emergent new forms. A spider web like cave form is naturally arrived at in the exhibit space nook with some string forms reaching 10 meters across the shared gallery space. Uninhibited use of the medium seems to expose natural 'rules' and novel forms. More investigation is in order.
